Youth Coach

Are you a passionate about helping young people achieve their potential?         


Striding Out is looking for Coaches who are experienced and qualified to work with young people in London to help them achieve their potential in employment, self-employment and leadership.  

We work with young people from all backgrounds - in education, out of education, young professionals, and young people facing multiple disadvantage.

 

The Opportunity

 

We are looking for qualified coaches to join our team full time to help expand the Striding Out brand in London.

There is an opportunity to deliver on current and new programmes as a licensee coach, and to assist in business development to generate new work.

As a Youth Coach you will have the skills, qualities and interest to deliver one or more of the following services -  Career Coaching, Business Coaching or Leadership Coaching and have previous experience of working with young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Coaches should be trained in coaching tools and techniques by a qualified provider.

Current work opportunities

We have recently secured funding from the Future Jobs fund (DWP funded programme) to support long term unemployed young people aged 16-25 into employment. Our target is to place 200 young people into 200 jobs over the next year. The Future Jobs fund is providing £6500 per young person to fund the wages of the employment position, training and project management of the overall programme.

We require coaches to deliver career and performance coaching to these young people for a period of six months to keep them motivated and engaged whilst they are placed in their employment position. The employment positions will be brokered by Striding Out based on the interests of the young person.

Expected earnings - coaches can earn up to £2400 per month to coach young people in a geographical area of London, starting from October onwards. In some cases there may be an opportunity to increase this income level.

Licensee Arrangement

To join the Striding Out team, coaches are expected to take a license of the brand. Striding Out consists of a team of self-employed coaches who help to grow and develop the brand, supported by a core team of personnel who manage finance, administration, business development, marketing and management. The coaches pay an annual fee of £1500 and contribute a % commission towards the costs of the central support team.

The Responsibilities

 

As a Striding Out Coach your responsibilities, will involve:                                                                                                           

  • Delivery of the Striding Out Coaching and Training Programmes
  • Facilitation of Connections amongst Striding Out partners and staff
  • Use of Client Relationship Management System for client reporting.

 

Market and Business Development

  • Pro-actively pursue and secure coaching and training contract work with partner organisations in the public, private and third sectors in the local catchment area.
  • Carry out marketing and outreach activities.
  • Assist with identifying local and regional partners and developing working links with organisations and bodies.
  • Represent Striding Out at professional development events and conferences to promote our work and identify potential partners and funders.

Management

  • Support the National HQ to compile information for submitting applications for national programmes, funding and sponsorship.
  • To actively work and contribute as a key member of our team.
  • Support the National HQ in quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate the Striding Out Services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a Company Strategic Action plan on a bi-annual basis.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Experience/skills:

You must beable to demonstrate the following experience and skills.

 

  1. Essential - To have at least one year of professional experience working with young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  2. Preferable experience - To have professional experience of working with small businesses and/or young people in education.
  3. To have over 40 hours worth of successful track record and experience of delivering one to one coaching to young people.  
  4. To have achieved a recognised Coaching Accreditation.  
  5. Proven experience of marketing and sales to generate and secure a client base.
  6. Experience of monitoring and managing a portfolio of clients.
  7. You must be a good networker who can demonstrate the ability to connect and facilitate networking amongst young people and entrepreneurial clients. 
  8. You have demonstrable experience of negotiating and developing partnerships for projects.
  9. You have an in-depth knowledge of the local area and the social, political and economic context.
  10. You have excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with people at all levels, including young people, professional advisers, sponsors, business support organisations, local government and the media
  11. You have experience of delivering training and facilitating personal and professional development in a community and academic setting.
  12. You have a sound working knowledge of financial systems, i.e. basic book keeping, budgeting
  13. You have all the basic IT skills, especially MS Office, and know how to access and derive information from databases
  14. You have a full driving licence and use of a vehicle

Drawing on your experience, you must beable to demonstrate the following personal attributes and qualities.

  • Ability to manage multiple resources, tasks and clients.
  • You have excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and generate buy-in amongst stakeholders.

We require two written references from two clients you have previously coached, which we can follow up with.

One written reference from a professional figurehead in the community who can endorse your skills as a good coach e.g. public sector, professional service provider etc.
