The Future 100 Awards were first launched in 2008 to recognise and profile young entrepreneurs running businesses, which have a triple bottom line. The definition of a triple bottom line, is a business that addresses people, planet and profit. They have a strong commercial foundation as well as a significant social and environmental impact.

The Future 100 Awards recognises the success of young entrepreneurs aged 18-35 who demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and innovation in progressing a responsible business venture.

Founder of Striding Out and organiser of the Future100 awards, Heather Wilkinson said: "The future of our world is in the hands of individuals who are committed to generating commercial and ethical returns. Young Guns 2011: UK’s hottest entrepreneurs aged 35 or under

Growing Business names its list of 30 companies with founders aged 35 or under for 2011. Each year Young Guns recognises the fastest-rising and most exciting young entrepreneurs running UK businesses.

The 2011 Young Guns were unveiled at an awards ceremony held at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens, with more than 50 of Britain’s top young business owners in attendance.

Now in its ninth successful year, this year’s Young Guns, sponsored by accountancy group haysmacintyre and law firm Farrer & Co, saw the ‘Class of 2011’ officially join an illustrious alumni featuring the founders of some of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurial businesses.

Youth unemployment has hit the headlines once again this week, and the question is how do we solve the problem! It’s not just about creating new jobs….

Striding Out has engaged with over 4000 unemployed young people claiming job seekers allowance. Through this activity we have found the main barriers facing young people to be:-  no or little real work experience on their CV, lack of clarity on what they want to do, and really low levels of motivation and confidence due to repeated rejection. These issues reinforce each other and create a spiralling negative outcome to hamper a young person’s progress and would even prevent them from securing a job even if one existed.
