Cheryl Speak, Business Coach

Cheryl Speak is a highly motivated and passionate entrepreneur, coach, trainer and facilitator with a wealth of knowledge gained in a successful Sales Management career within the media and retail sector. She has worked with BSkyB, Frontline Ltd and also founded 2 small businesses.

A highly commercial and strategic L&D focussed professional with over 8 years experience in creating and delivering bespoke training programmes. Full understanding of the training cycle, accelerated learning, TNA, coaching, company culture, management and leadership training. I am an accomplished manager and leader with over 12 years experience of leading teams.

Passionate about helping entrepreneurs achieve success Cheryl blends a strong commercial background with a keen interest for personal development and growth.

Cheryl prides herself on her excellent interpersonal and communication skills. She is engaging and a natural people person; her training style is inspirational, creative and interactive. A dedicated passion to helping those she works with realise and release their full potential.

In addition to running commercial programmes Cheryl specialises in Coaching and Personal Development, she is a certified NLP practitioner and accredited Business Coach.

  • Responsible for the complete creation of the L&D strategy across the sales and marketing function including training needs analysis, course creation, delivery, budgeting and ROI analysis
  • Providing ongoing coaching support focussing on personal development, job performance and project delivery.
  • Creation and delivery of bespoke training and development programmes for the Sales function to include leadership development, management basics, team building, negotiation, presentation skills, coaching and values
  • Responsible for a companywide roll out of the Advanced Communication and Influencing course following on from a successful trial through sales and marketing.
Field Sales Manager                                                 August 2006 – April 2007
  • Project Manager reporting directly to the Managing Director for 5 months tasked with redesigning, testing and implementing a new field sales strategy moving from a compliance to sales focus
  • Responsible for the board level presentation and sign off of the revised strategy
  • Managed full consultation & redundancy in conjunction with HR for the national field sales team
  • Completed full recruitment and induction of a new field based Territory Manager team

  • Responsible for a team of 8 Business Development Managers tasked with driving sales and instore compliance across multiple Grocery and High Street retailers
  • Responsible for in-field coaching and accompaniments, development of bespoke training programme delivered in a classroom situation and creation of a mentoring scheme 

Hand Made Heaven (Retail Outlet) May 2003 – May 2006

  • Opened a retail outlet selling card making and scrapbooking materials locally and on the internet
  • Launched a programme of practical workshops in-house to promote card making and scrapbooking skills
  • Delivered over 50 external workshops to include group work, guided tuition and one to one sessions
  • Shop sold in May 2006 – still trading

BSkyB

Training and Development Manager                      October 2000 – October 2002
  • Responsible for the management of 34 Training and Development Executives and 3 Regional Sales Managers with a call file of over 1000 multiple retail outlets
  • Developed a localised promotional programme incorporating radio and press advertising as well as instore promotional activity
  • Responsible for writing all in store training materials to include pocket guides, manuals and accreditation programmes 
Northern Regional Sales Manager                                     June 1998 – October 2000
  • Responsible for 12 field based Sales Executives to include day to day management, coaching, training, recruitment, budget and targeting
  • Delivered a 240% increase in sales across the territory by implementing a regular call cycle patterns, driving localised incentives, adopting Key Account Management principles through underperforming retailers and creating ‘expert days’

Demonstrator and Sales Trainer                            April 1996 – May 1998
  • Worked on the Sky TV account as a product demonstrator for the launch of Sky digital, presenting at over 78 national roadshows over 6 months
  • Trained in store sales staff on the Sky product sale over a 12 month period using shop floor training materials and group training delivered off site
